hey love — welcome to the messy beginning!

You made it through grad school. That counts.

Grad school gave you theory. Supervision is supposed to give you real-world reps—without turning you into a numb little clipboard zombie.

But a lot of LPC Associates get tossed into the deep end with a prayer and a progress note template.

Suddenly you’re expected to:

  • hold trauma, crisis, and complexity

  • learn documentation, ethics, and systems fast

  • and still be a regulated human being with an actual nervous system

Nobody teaches you how to do all of that without disappearing inside it.
That’s where I come in.

I’m Shawna Lovin, LPC-S — a Texas Board-Approved Supervisor (BHEC), therapist, and wellness educator with 25 years in helping spaces.

Supervision with me is more than compliance. It’s mentorship—grounded, practical, and human.

Because your growth isn’t measured by how perfectly you follow someone else’s script.
It’s measured by how well you can:

  • stay regulated enough to think clearly

  • hold boundaries without guilt spirals

  • trust your voice in the room

  • build a career that doesn’t break you

If that feels like a breath of fresh air—you’re in the right place.

What former LPC-Associates say…

The Crossroads… What kind of supervision do you want?

You’re at the beginning of your LPC journey, and the supervision you choose is going to shape how you practice for years.

There are basically two options.

  • Shawna Lovin, LPC-S | Texas LPC Supervisor

    Path One: Hour-Log Supervision

You get the signature. You clock the hours. You stay quiet and play it safe.

    It “works” on paper:

    Boxes get checked

    Forms get signed

    You move toward full licensure

But it often comes with a cost:

You burn out before you’re even fully licensed

You second-guess yourself and stop asking questions

You don’t build real confidence—just compliance

    Path Two: Supervision as Mentorship

This is the path we walk together.

Supervision with me is an apprenticeship in being a skilled, ethical therapist & a whole human.

    That means we look at:

    The case + clients

    The ethics + documentation

What the work is doing to your nervous system

We bring in nervous system regulation and somatic awareness—not as “self-care homework,” but as part of how you become the kind of clinician who can do this work long-term.

Self-care isn’t an add-on here. It’s part of the supervision.

This isn’t about “doing it right” or performing competence.

It’s about becoming the version of you who can sit with another human and stay:

  • grounded

  • present

  • clear

  • still yourself

No mask required.

That’s baked into how we plan, how we track your capacity, and how we support your nervous system—month after month.

Because this work shouldn’t break you just to prove you can do it.

What we’re building is:

  • resilience you can actually feel

  • alignment between your values and your practice

  • a sustainable way to become fully licensed without burning down your life

Supervision with me includes:

  • 4 hours/month

  • a mix of individual + group so you get personal support and peer wisdom

  • electronic hour tracking (no spreadsheet stress)

  • honest feedback you can actually use (no fluff, no buzzword soup)

  • case consultation rooted in ethics, nervous-system awareness, and clinical depth

  • private practice/career guidance (build a path that fits your energy)

  • emergency consult option for “holy crap” moments

  • access to workshops/learning resources, when available

We don’t stop at treatment plans and diagnoses.

We also talk about:

  • burnout + secondary trauma

  • imposter stories (“I’m not good enough yet”)

  • loneliness in this field

  • identity, culture, and lived experience

  • boundary fatigue and learning to say no

  • the pressure to look like you’ve got it all figured out

Because supervision isn’t just about learning to treat clients.
It’s about learning to stay with yourself while you do.
